My Lastest Bargain - Dresser

This is my latest bargain!  Bought this dresser from a student who was graduate last semester and was moving out of town.  He did not want to take this piece with him.  I reached there just minutes before this would be loaded on to a moving truck.

Purchased it for $30.00. I think this was an excellent buy as this piece is solid wood and have nice details above the drawers.

This was one of my first project and did not take good pictures.  This the top of the dresser.  Should have taken one showing the front to have an accurate picture of before and after.

 Materials:
Paint
Knobs/pulls
4 inch sponge roller

Instructions:

1. Remove the drawers and knobs.

2. Lightly sand all the surfaces.  I did not spend much time with sanding; the piece will be used in a low traffic area and is being used more for the aesthetics rather than function.  Also, I used a special paint for this purpose.

3. Clean surfaces using a damp cotton cloth (I used an old T-shirt).

4. Paint the body and drawers. I used a 4" foam paint roller and

4.  I choose to replace the knobs.  The old knobs could be sprayed and reused to reduce cost.

The finished product! Furniture pieces can serve multiple purposes. A dresser (minus the mirror) can be used in the living, dinning room or of course the bedroom.

This piece I actually used in my living room rather than the bedroom.  I am totally satisfied!
